Victor Denicola, Jr. of Baton Rouge passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018 at the age of 69. He graduated from Catholic High School in 1967, received a bachelor’s degree in Zoology in 1973 from Southeastern Louisiana University, and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1975 from Northeast Louisiana University. He was a pharmacist for 40 years – first at K&B Drugs, and then later at Rite Aid, or as he not-so-affectionately referred to it, “Bite Aid”. He was the head master at the Vic Denicola school of pharmacy where he trained countless new pharmacists over the years. He taught them the power of the index finger, from which had the ability to fluently speak fourteen different languages, including sarcasm. He had great love and compassion for his profession and for his patients, many of whom drove great distances to be irritated and harassed by him. He married Connie Hagan Denicola in 1975; she was second only to his love of lawn care. He will continue to look over her with love and admiration, unless the grass gets too long in the front yard. Father of two children, Andrew and Katie, they could have been better but he never complained….much. If you knew him, you’d never get away without hearing proud stories of their successes and his adventures with them. He was the founding father of Neighbors on Vacation Again (NOVA) – a group of energetic, adventurous, and fun-loving friends who traveled the world, created a book full of great stories, and never got arrested. Vic was a captain of the obvious – directions, interpretations, and observations; he never heard a smart remark he did not like. He was known for his quick wit, amazing head of hair, and ability to make an entire room groan in response to his jokes. Vic had a lifelong affair with jogging long distances at a remarkably slow pace, drinking dark nasty beer (occasionally with shots in them), bluffing with bad hands, and enjoying life to the fullest. The master mower and operator of Anal Retentive Lawn Care has gone to the great mowing shed in the sky, where the equipment always works, the gas cans are always full, and the weeds are afraid to grow. He will be missed by all that had the pleasure of crossing his path, even more so by the family he entrusted to write this obituary and the close group of friends who will appreciate it. This man was truly loved and is survived by his treasured wife, Connie, and two children, Andrew (Ashela) Denicola of San Diego, and Katie Ferris of Denham Springs. Preceded by his loving parents, Victor and Mary Denicola, and his brother Anthony Denicola. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday November 6, 2018 from 4-6 pm at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 6 pm. Special thanks to the hospice team, particularly Brandy and Pam, and the Our Lady of the Lake ICU staff, especially David. We are grateful for wonderful friends and family who helped us weather this storm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you donate in his name to St. Vincent De Paul Community Pharmacy or to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Cancer Hospital.
