A native of Marksville, she is also survived by a sister and brother, Rachel Guillot (Fred) of Borrego Springs, California, and Sheryl Moulard. Her parents, Sylvan and Lillie Moulard; sister, May Rita Moulard, brother-in-law, Marion Desselles and  sister-in-law, Linda D. Moulard, preceded her in death. Martha was a businesswoman before it was customary or accepted. Early in her career, she taught herself bookkeeping to land a better job with hours more suited to a young mother. Through hard work and drive, she quickly advanced to positions of responsibility in every firm in which she worked. In 1991, she retired from Saco Electric (formerly Saia Electric) after 26 years of service. Martha also loved to entertain. Hubert and Martha often hosted large gatherings of family and friends. Their supper groups (“Avoyelles + 2” and “The Wild Bunch”) were legendary for terrific food and great company.  Her community spirit was evident through her involvement and leadership roles in many religious, charitable, and social organizations in the area. She was a member of United Commercial Travelers of America (UCT), a fraternal benefit society, for 37 years and held various elected positions, including Baton Rouge #499 Local President for the Year 2016-2017. She was recipient of the coveted Voris King Award given to UCT members for outstanding service to her family, church, community, and local council. A member of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church from its inception, she served as president of the Ladies’ Altar Society. She was also an active member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas.  She served as President of the Villa del Rey Citizen Association for 12 years and on the Board of Directors for 10 additional years. Funeral arrangements are by Rabenhorst Funeral Home East located on 11000 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA. Service will be in the Rabenhorst Chapel and is planned for Friday, July 31, at11 a.m. with religious service being held at 12:00 p.m., Rev. Frank M. Uter serving as celebrant. For the safety of friends and family facial masks and social distancing will be required for all indoor activities. Due to the excessive inclement weather of late and the unsuitability of the saturated grounds, there will be no interment at Greenoaks Garden of Memory at this time. Actual interment will take place as soon as conditions allow. Honorary pallbearers are: Timothy Desselles, Robert (Jason) Desselles, Keith Desselles, Damian Stevens, Richard (Ricky) Desselles, Brian Desselles, Randy Young, Brady Moulard, and Arthur Sterling. Roy Kadair and Adrian Landy for their care and concern for Martha over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Closer Walk Ministries, c/o the Rev. Jeff Bayhi, www.closerwalkministries.com. Please sign the guestbook at www.rabenhorst.com.
