Lena Nicosia Melancon was called to her heavenly home on October 5, 2020 in Orlando, FL. She was born January 10, 1932, a native of Fordoche and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Her favorite things to do were cooking for her family, attending weekly rosary group, gardening, going to the casino, watching her “Soaps”, and shopping. Her greatest accomplishment, in her mind, was her precious family. She loved and cared for them all, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lena enjoyed many trips to Orlando while visiting her youngest daughter and family. She enjoyed the city as much as any tourist while being a part of their busy lifestyle. She is survived by her children, Deborah Sewell (Joe), Donald Nicosia (Becky) and Sherry Brown (Len); grandchildren, Heather, Nicholas, Chelsea, Wyatt, and Katelyn; and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Kirby Melancon; parents, Vito and Rosa Montelaro; first late husband, Victor “Nick” Nicosia; siblings, Joseph Montelaro, and Josie Taylor. A graveside service will be on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Greenoaks Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m.
