James Vincent Blasi passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018 in Baton Rouge at the age of 81.  He was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  Born in New Orleans on September 10, 1937, he was educated in parochial schools and received a Bachelor’s Degree in English as well as a Master’s Degree in Mathematics and spent over half a century as a teacher.  While a member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, he taught in several Catholic schools in Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, and Minnesota.  Afterwards, he was a long-time teacher in Orleans Parish Public Schools as well as parochial schools in East Baton Rouge and St. Charles Parishes.  Though he never married, he is survived by two brothers, Edward J. Blasi  (wife, Carol Cliff Blasi) and Thomas J. Blasi of Baton Rouge; a sister, Agnes Blasi Lamendola (husband,Dr. Joseph A. Lamendola, Jr.) of Baton Rouge; two nieces, Candace Blasi Gary (husband, David Gary, Sr) of Baton Rouge and Faith Blasi Krezalek (husband, Martin Krezalek) of Montclair, NJ;  nephew, Joseph R. Blasi (wife, Wendy Blasi) of Houston Texas; and great-nieces and nephews, Caroline & David Gary, Jr., Amanda & Ashley Krezalek, and Bella & Brandon Blasi.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph F. Blasi, Jr. & Agnes McGrath Blasi; four uncles, John J. Blasi, Edward McGrath, Harold McGrath, and Joseph McGrath; aunt, Marie Blasi Powers; and first cousin, John J. Powers.  He was laid to rest in the Blasi Family Tomb in Metairie/Lake Lawn Cemetery in New Orleans on Monday, October 22, 2018.  Gifts made in Jim’s honor may be sent to the St. LaSalle Auxiliary (917 S.
