George Marvin O’Neal, Jr., born in Crosby, MS and long-time resident of Baton Rouge, LA passed away on October 28, 2018 at the age of 81.  George was a 1954 graduate of University Lab School (now University High School from 1st grade – 12th grade) in Baton Rouge where he was a member of the football, basketball, and baseball teams.  Following graduation, he attended LSU until making the decision to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1957.  He then continued his studies at LSU where he was honored and proud to be a member of the LSU 1958 football Championship Team, graduating in 1963.  George went on to open Diversified Construction Consultants, Inc., maintaining his LA residential and commercial license throughout the years.  He also worked for Chemical Waste Management and was a business partner in Lakeside Daiquiris and Southern Daiquiris. He was an active member of Grace Baptist Church where he became a Deacon and was called upon by God to begin a Bible ministry mentoring at Angola Prison.  George is greatly loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.  He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Yolanda Loret O’Neal; children, Kasey O’Neal, George M. “Duke” O’Neal, III; stepchildren, Brian Wilson (wife Allyson), Loret Wilson Fremin (husband, Francis) Conrad Wilson (wife Dara); grandchildren, Ava & Adrian O’Neal, Amelie & Elise Wilson, and Peyton Smith-Wilson. George is preceded in death by his parents Merita & George Marvin O’Neal, Sr; and sister, Peggy Burgess. Visitation will be on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Grace Baptist Mid-city Church (630 Richland Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70806) from 1:00 pm until the Memorial Service at 2:00 pm officiated by Pastor Byron Townsend.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s honor to Grace Baptist Mid-city Church and/or Johnny Robinson’s Boys Home (3209 S. Grand St., Monroe, LA 71202.
