Elmira “Bobbie” Newnam, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on August 2, 2018 at the age of 96. Bobbie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to travel, play competitive bridge, and to solve puzzles. She enjoyed her time at St. James Place, and all of the friends she made. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Montreuil; grandson, Paul Montreuil; sister, Martha Pearce; and sister, Lottie Fry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brigadier General Ted Newnam, her parents, sisters and brothers. The family would like to thank the staff at the Carpenter House for their compassionate care. A visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 6, 2018 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Entombment in mausoleum will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Broadmoor Baptist Church.
