A native and resident of Baton Rouge and a devout Christian, she passed into the hands of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, May 29, 2006, at the home of her father and in the gouse in which she was born 10 weeks premature on June 14, 1969. She was surrounded by her husband, father and five siblings. She was an adult education counselor and GED teacher for the East Baton Rouge parish school system, from which she had to retire on disability in 2005 on account of illness. In the last 19 years, she received three kidney transplants and had a liver disease which ultimately took her life. She received bachelor’s and master’s of education degrees from LSU while on dialysis in between kidney transplants. Visitation at Broadmoor United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 1, from 9 a.m. until memorial service at 11 a.m. Private interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by her husband, Bryan D. Faulkner; father, Dale Ducote; sister, Susan M. Ducote, whose loving care was a great source of comfort for Dorothy during her final months of life; brothers, Lynnwood “Lynn” D. Ducote Jr. and wife Susan, both of whome spent precious time with Dorothy, Randall C. Ducote and wife Elise, whose loving care meant a lot to Dorothy, Steven B. Ducote, who gave Dorothy the gift of life when he gave her the first kidny transplant 19 years ago and gave her love and support, and Albert J. Ducote, whose love and concern for Dorothy caused him to devise many gadgets for Dorothy’s bedroom to give her comfort. She is also survived by nieces, Danielle M. Ducote, Nicole E. Ducote, Brandy G. Patterson and Jessi L. Genung; and nephews, Adam M. Ducote, Devin T. Ducote, A. Tanner Ducote, Remi M. Ducote and Dallas A. Ducote. Pets that survived her are her dogs, Shelly and Mike, and her cats, Delilah and Sampson, whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria “Teeny” Lartigue Ducote; and stillborn twin sister Ann Frances Ducote. Special thanks to the doctors who treated her over the years, especially Dr. Robert Kenney, Dr. Jones Samuel and Dr. Michael Roppolo at Renal Associates, Dr. Andrew Nelson at Gastroenterology Associates and the doctors at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. Also, special thanks to the two unknown donor families who donated kidneys to Dorothy for her last two transplants.
