A native and lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, Davis passed away, as the result of a lengthy illness, on June 10, 2018 at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest A. Gueymard and Claire Lunsford Eyrich, his stepmother, Margaret Reed Gueymard, and by his spouse of thirty-nine years, Lynn Butler Gueymard. Davis was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School, Louisiana State University and the Paul M. Hebert Law Center. He served as an Assistant District Attorney in East Baton Rouge Parish during the 1960s and engaged in the private practice of law in Baton Rouge for over forty-five years. He is survived by his sister, Anne Gueymard Shirley of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, his nieces, Katherine Koonce of Nashville, Jeanne Dennis of Lake Charles, and Anne Louise Songy of Tunnel Hill, and by his brother-in-law, William King Butler, of Hammond. He is also survived by three sisters, Marcia Eyrich of Austin, Paula Eyrich Tyler of Fort Worth and Lyn Eyrich Shelley of Woodward, Oklahoma. Finally, he is survived by his companion, friend and truelove, Ann Schudmak Keogh, of Baton Rouge. Davis was a “Man of Manresa”, having attended forty-five annual retreats at the Jesuit Retreat House in Convent, La. He served as a lay scripture reader for Mass at Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, and other venues, for some thirty-five years. A special acknowledgment and thanks goes out to the doctors and staff of the Mary Bird Perkins–Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center, Louisiana Hematology, Oncology Associates, and Hospice of Baton Rouge. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 14 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church beginning at 10:00 AM until services at 11:30  am conducted by the Reverend Miles Walsh and co-celebrant the Reverend J. Clifton Hill. Burial will follow in the St. Gabriel Church Cemetery at St. Gabriel, Louisiana, where four generations of the Gueymard family are interred.
