Devoted wife, mother and grandmother, “”Grandmommy”” was called to her heavenly home Wednesday, October 3, 2018. She was 78. A memorial service will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East 11000 Florida Blvd. Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 10:00am till 12:00pm service. Entombment in the St. George Catholic Church Mausoleum will occur on a future date. Beverly is survived by a daughter, Jo Anne Flauss Street and husband Stephen Street; son Stephen Joseph Flauss and son-in-law Charles “”Richie”” Barber; six grandchildren, Sarah, Aaron, Andrew and Emily Street, and Elizabeth and Haas Ferran; sister Jo Anne Selzer Flauss and brother-in-law Robert Joseph Flauss; sister June Mary Selzer; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 49 years, Emile Peter Joseph Flauss, a daughter, Susan Elaine Flauss; and parents Joseph Anthony Selzer and Rosalie Vachetta Selzer. Born in New Orleans, where she resided until relocating to Baton Rouge following Hurricane Katrina, Beverly graduated from Annunciation High School and worked for several years at the Archdiocese of New Orleans before marrying her childhood sweetheart, Emile, and moving to Chapel Hill, North Carolina where he was attending graduate school. Upon returning to New Orleans, she raised her family, enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening and later attended UNO where she received several professional certificates. Like her beloved husband Emile, Beverly had a special love for NASA and the American Space Program and was proud to have worked for 25 years at Lockheed Martin Aerospace when the Space Shuttle program was in full swing. Family meant everything to Beverly. She adored her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her fur babies, Katie and Hobbs. She enjoyed traveling and spending as much time as possible in the Smokey Mountains and was recently thrilled to take a “”bucket list”” trip of a lifetime to Alaska with her grandchildren. She loved to quote John Muir saying, “”The Mountains are calling and I must go.”” The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Baton Rouge Health Care, especially Charles “”Richie”” Barber, Wanda and “”the Ray-Rays,”” for their kind and loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family would love to receive notes with personal memories or donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in memory of Beverly’s daughter, Sue-Sue.
