Anthony Ernest “Pawpaw” Rozier, Sr., 88, was called home while enveloped in love on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. He was born to Ernest and Alma Rozier on December 24, 1929 in Lafayette, Louisiana. Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Louise Domingue Rozier; sister, Betty Honore; four sons, Anthony E. Rozier, Jr., Michael D. (Jean) Rozier, Dwight G. (Grethel) Rozier, and Joseph M. (Teresa) Rozier; two daughters, Monica R. (Tony) Patin and Patrice R. (David) Gilliam; nineteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sadie Darensbourg. Anthony was a “jack of all trades” whose talents never ceased to amaze; there wasn’t anything that “pawpaw” couldn’t fix. Along with his carpentry skills was his larger-than-life heart and never-ending dedication to serve the Lord. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Army gun mechanic during the Korean War and was a member of The Holy Name Society, Legion of Mary, and Carpenter’s Union Local 1098. The legacy he leaves behind will forever continue through the many lives he influenced. His family offers special thanks to the doctors and staff of The Crossing at Clarity Hospice for their love and support during his final days. Visitation will be at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 749 East Blvd, on Friday, August 10, from 9:00 am until Recitation of the Rosary at 10:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am celebrated by Fr. J. Clifton Hill and Fr. Miles D. Walsh. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Any memorial donations contributed in his name will be dispersed to various charities at the family’s discretion.
