A native of Baton Rouge, Anne passed away after a lengthy illness, on November 9, 2018 at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest A. Gueymard and Claire Lunsford Eyrich; her stepmother, Margaret Reed Gueymard; her brother Davis A. Gueymard; her husband Richard James Shirley; and her son Randolph Jason Shirley. Anne was a graduate of University High School and the Louisiana State University Manship School of Journalism. She is survived by her daughters Katherine Anne Koonce of Nashville, Jeanne Marie Dennis of Lake Charles, and Anne-Louise Songy of Tunnel Hill, Georgia. She is also survived by her sons-in-law Richard Koonce, Russell Dennis and Maurice Songy; by her grandchildren David Koonce, Anna Kate Koonce, Corey Donaldson, Heather Benge, Larre’ Donaldson, Alex Raynaud, Rusty Dennis, Christian Dennis, and Daniel Shirley; and by her great-grandchildren Maddie Donaldson and Jewell Anne Donaldson. Anne worked as an editor for the LSU Press before starting her family. After her children were grown, she worked for the Baton Rouge Regional Eye Bank and the Baton Rouge Career Center alongside her lifelong, dear friend Ursula Bogan Carmena. She has volunteered her talent and time to countless organizations over the years, most prominently the Eye Bank Foundation and Magnolia Mound Plantation. A graveside service for close friends and family will be held at the St. Gabriel Church Cemetery at St. Gabriel, Louisiana, where five generations of the Gueymard family are interred. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Magnolia Mound Plantation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
