ROY G LANOUE, age 76, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018. He was a native of Ethel, Louisiana and a long time resident of Baton Rouge. Born November 2, 1942, he graduated from McKowen High School in Jackson and joined the United States Army until 1965 when he became a veteran. Roy was a long time employee of Turner Industries and later drove 18 wheeler trucks locally as well as cross country. He was raised in the Methodist Church in Ethel, La. Preceded in death by his parents Roy J & Elizabeth Jane Lanoue of Ethel & the love of his life, his best friend and wife of 49 years, LaNell McGraw Lanoue, whom he missed terribly, he is survived by a son, Jeffrey Woods and Jeff’s wife, Lindsey Taylor Lanoue, of Georgetown, Tx. Roy always said, “no man had a better son & daughter in law.” He is also survived by a grandson, Sam Lanoue, a great granddaughter, Zoey Lanoue, two brothers & their wives, Charles J. & Jean S. Lanoue & Gene W. & Linda O. Lanoue, Ethel, La. one special niece & her family, Gretchen & Robbie Barlow & their sons, Logan & Luke, Learned, Ms., as well as numerous additional nieces & nephews, & Allen Shelton, Austin, Tx. who is a special family friend. He loved people, would talk your ear off, was never at a loss for conversation & never shied from sharing his opinion or commenting on any subject. Roy made friends wherever he went & was always eager to lend a hand; he was an avid LSU football & baseball fan. Eager to return to his wife, he will be cremated so he can be forever by her side.
