Gregory Mark Grzybowski passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 26, 2018 after a brief illness.  Gregg was born in Schenectady, New York on June 29, 1954 to his loving parents, Walter and Emily Grzybowski.  He lived the past 40 years in Baton Rouge, LA as a skilled roofing specialist, second to none.  He graduated from Draper High School in 1972 as a star basketball player with a scholarship to Paul Smith’s College in upstate New York.  He also won in his senior year the high jump championship in the league at 6 feet which, ironically, was his height, after just participating a single year in track.  He is survived by his loving daughter, Jordan Hover, his son-in-law James Hover, and his beloved granddaughter Lucy Hays Hover.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Emily Grzybowski.  Survivors are two brothers, Gary Grzybowski of Baton Rouge, and Peter Grzybowski and wife Erin of Massapequa, New York, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. Gregg had an enormous heart and lived a very simple life.  He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him, especially Edwin “Red” McLaughlin, Dewey Boudreaux, Debbie Waguespack, and countless others.  Gregg adored his family and will be missed by other surviving relatives including Rev. Joseph Kowalczyk of Ossining, NY, Jerry Kowalczyk of Pennsylvania, Regina Weisheit of Naples, FL, Blanche Prudent of Arkansas, Thomas Grzybowski of Maine, Diane Usavich and Leonard Suchocki of Schenectady, NY, and numerous cousins.  In Gregg’s own words, the last year of his life was the happiest he has ever been because of the time he was able to spend with his granddaughter Lucy and the immense joy she brought to his life.  Lucy was “the light of his life” and Gregg was grateful for each moment he shared with both Jordan and Lucy.  There will be a visitation at St. Aloysius Church on Friday, May 4th, from 10 – 11:30am, followed by a celebratory mass.  Gregg was a communicant of St. Aloysius and Our Lady of Mercy.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, P.O. Box 302, Maryknoll, NY 10545.
